Oshawa, Ontario (September 22, 2009) –  GMC has announced that its all-new Terrain five-passenger crossover SUV, now arriving in showrooms, sports a starting price of $27,465 for the front-wheel drive model and $29,075 for the all-wheel drive model.

“Built right here in Ingersoll, Ontario, the Terrain is the latest offering from GMC and takes the brand’s engineering expertise and truck heritage into a smaller segment at the heart of today’s crossover market,” said Marc Comeau, vice president of sales, service and marketing for GM of Canada. “With its bold styling, generous amenities and segment-best highway fuel economy, we think Terrain will appeal to consumers looking for a distinctive alternative to typical crossover offerings.”

The base SLE1 model comes standard with GM’s new 2.4L direct-injection engine and six-speed automatic transmission that delivers highway fuel consumption of just 6.1 L/100km, beating competitor offerings including the Ford Escape Hybrid, Toyota RAV4 and Honda CRV.

The Terrain also offers a unique Multi-Flex rear seat configuration that can be optimized for either class-leading rear passenger legroom or to provide over 1800 litres of cargo space behind the front seats.

The base price also includes unexpected standard features, such as a segment-first integrated Rearview Backup Camera System and six-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system with USB connectivity, along with a full suite of safety equipment, including six airbags, StabiliTrak vehicle stability control and OnStar.

The top-of-the-line SLT2 trim level, which features leather seating, a premium Pioneer sound system, a power programmable liftgate, rear park assist, sunroof and a special chrome appearance package, starts at $34,400.  The Terrain also offers a powerful 3.0L direct injection V6 engine and a host of optional features like integrated navigation, Bluetooth hands-free phone capability, and rear-seat DVD infotainment systems.

Pricing for the well-equipped Terrain ranges through progressively more luxurious trim levels for both the front and all-wheel-drive models as follows:
