TORONTO (Wednesday, February 10, 2016) – The 2017 LaCrosse will be revealed for the very first time in Canada at the Canadian International Auto Show, expanding Buick’s portfolio of beautiful, quiet and premium vehicles. Building on the success of Buick’s current lineup of crossovers the all-new Envision will also make its debut at the show as the most technologically advanced Buick ever produced in the segment. The winner of the prestigious Eyes on Design award, the Avenir concept car, rounds out Buick’s reveals at the show.
“The all-new LaCrosse flagship introduces the new face of Buick to the world, signaling the next phase of Buick’s international momentum,” said Mike Speranzini, brand director of Buick in Canada. “The brand’s progressive portfolio will deliver a driving experience that is quiet, rewarding, and the epitome of modern luxury.”
The LaCrosse features a new grille design with a large opening distinguished by the return of a three-colour – red, silver and blue – Buick tri-shield insignia, accented by wing-shaped elements set against darkened waterfall grille bars inspired by the 1954 Wildcat II concept.
Longer, lower and wider than the current model, the 2017 LaCrosse is built on a stronger yet lighter structure. It is 136 kilograms (300 lbs) lighter than the current LaCrosse – largely due to the use of press-hardened, high-strength steels – which contribute to greater efficiency and more responsive handling.
The 2016 Envision is an all-new luxury compact crossover with segment-challenging driving dynamics, advanced technology, connectivity and Buick’s trademark interior acoustics. It is a global vehicle, designed from the ground up as a Buick luxury compact crossover. It goes on sale in North America in the second quarter of 2016.
The Avenir concept is a flagship sedan exploring progressive design with new levels of passenger well-being and technology integration. The Avenir – French for future – is distinguished by its premium sports proportions and all-new interpretations of traditional Buick cues. It is the creation of a global team of Buick designers and sculptors who were inspired by historic Buick concepts, which pushed traditional boundaries, shaped future Buick models and influenced the entire auto industry.
